Here at TWH we are constantly on the lookout for the next fashion queue that can be tied into our footwear. Pantone recently announced it’s colour of the year and it seems that we are in for some Ultra Violet ladies. A rather tricky colour to work with in the fashion stakes however we are bound to see of lot of it over the next year. Here are our 5 tops tips on successfully tying Ultra Violet into your shoe collection –
- Choose a statement ankle boot
A solid violet coloured ankle boot would look amazing with a multitude of other options such as jeans, long and short skirts or dress trousers. Make sure you check the material of the shoe that you are buying for overall comfort. This boot is made of patent leather which generally doesn’t stretch too much and tends to cause irritation to the toes. A really good fit is necessary here!
2. Buy an investment piece
This colour will probably only come around sporadically but it doesn’t mean you won’t get use of it after this year. Look at these Tom Ford pretties! I’m sure your next dinner will be so much better with these on your feet. Make sure that you have in mind how you will use a shoe before purchase. Although these shoes are beautiful, they should be worn for shorter time periods and when there is a chance to sit and rest your feet.
3. What about red?
If you love the idea of purple but not on your feet, what about tying it in with another colour? This combination of purple with red is stunning and these shoes are amazing. They actually look like they would be comfortable but we always warn clients about stitched toe boxes (that’s the line where the red leather meets the black). The toes are often irritated by the stitching as it is less likely to stretch and in some cases can be rough on the underside of the leather.
4. Take the plunge and buy some thigh-highs
These Balenciaga boots have been spotted on the streets of Paris during fashion week and work well with a long dress or trench. We love thigh-high boots but make sure the fabric has enough stretch that you aren’t going to damage the skin on your legs or worse still cut off circulation to your legs and feet.
5. What about socks?
Ultra-violet shoes too much? What about socks. Wearing socks in strappy heels is still very much in vogue and a purple sock under black heels or another colour would work well. TWH suggests that the socks are preferably seamless around the toes to avoid unwanted irritation and corn development.
We hope we have unveiled some ways you can get on board with this years top colour and have some fun with it while remaining comfortable. Happy shopping!
Until next time,
