This week we are adding to our Who’s Well-Heeled list of incredible style makers. The talented Jenna Lyons has been handed the award and well deserved too! We didn’t know a lot about Jenna’s personal life, rather a mutual love of her fashion prowess and “geek-chic quirkiness” as labelled by The New York Times. A little research later we have even more respect for Lyons…
Lyons accounts a lot of her outlook on life and personal interests from childhood experiences. Her parents divorced when she was four and she grew up with her mother in California. Lyons was bullied severely as a child due to her genetic condition incongententia pigmenti, which causes scarring of the skin, tooth deformity and hair loss. She maintains she was an introverted child as a result of this bullying and fell in love with fashion for it has the ability to transform and reinvent a person. She studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in Greenwich Village, and after starting her first design job at J. Crew she became the Vice President of Women’s design by 2003. She has been known as a tastemaker in the industry.
We have to say that it has been difficult to shortlist our favourite looks on Lyons as she tends to look amazing in everything. And… her shoe collection is to die for.
Lyons is not afraid to dress for comfort and she does it with style, ease and finesse. Here she is on the left looking suitably geek-chic and wearing a pair of white Adidas Stan Smiths sneakers. No foot problems happening anytime soon in these.
Who would have thought an army khaki shirt would work so well with a tulle skirt? Lyons has made it so in this case and what of those shoes! Multiple adjustable straps will allow for the highest arched foot and also provide stability. It works well here!
And again the outfit works. This one was picked because Elouise has these Louboutins in the midi-heel and they are really comfortable! The strap around the ankle provides great support and the heel height allows for longer hours of weight bearing in comfort and with less damage to the feet. By the way that jacket is to die for. Channeling Florence Broadhurst here.
From our research we don’t think that Lyons can put a foot wrong in the fashion stakes and she does seem to choose the comfort option regularly all while managing to look effortlessly stylish. The Well-Heeled applauds you Jenna.
Until next time,
E & E
