Welcome to the first Who’s Well-Heeled segment for 2018. We are so excited about what’s in store this year and why not kick off our blog with an addition to our Well-Heeled list. This gorgeous lass has been a hot topic for the past couple of months and for good reason – she’s taken another prince off the market! Introducing Meghan Markle, and her fabulous taste in shoes.
Born in Los Angeles, Meghan describes herself as a strong mixed-raced women. Her mother is an African-American yoga instructor and her father is a famous lighting director from Dutch, Irish and English heritage. Meghan completed a bachelor degree in theatre and international studies in 2003 and has had minor roles in television and movies until 2011, when she secured a regular role as Rachel Zane in the television series Suits.
Meghan’s humanitarian work began in 2014 when she became a councilor for One Young World charity speaking on topics about child slavery and gender equality. More recently she has travelled to Rwanda as part of World Vision’s clean water campaign, and to India to raise awareness about issues concerning women. We were unaware of Meghan’s humanitarian work and note that this started well before her involvement with Prince Harry. We are sure she will be a fantastic, refreshing addition to the royal family and a perfect match for the left of centre prince!
But what of the shoes?
Meghan has rapidly become famous for her varied jacket ensemble, including this occasion where she paired a sleeveless trench with black strappy sandals. We approve of the wider cross straps and soft leather – hello stability (goodbye falling over)! The finer strap at the front of the shoe balances out the style making it look more elegant. We love these!
She does love a chambray shirt! We have seen a lot of pics of Meghan in this soft denim look and why not? The colour is perfect for her skin. The shoes for this casual look are a version of the ghillie which we have featured in Style of the Week. Comfortable and practical for travel – great choice!
And what about these? We love the combination of the nude shoe with the leather pant and formal jacket. The red lip and side swept hair finishes this look off perfectly. The shoes are fantastic! Multiple adjustable straps across the midfoot would allow more room for a higher arched foot and would provide stability. Fingers crossed Meghan doesn’t have a bunion or clawed toes otherwise the pointed toe box will cause trouble! Remember to go that half-one size up ladies.
Congratulations Meghan on your engagement and upcoming wedding to Harry. We look forward to following your continued humanitarian work and can’t wait to see what you choose to wear on your wedding day. The shoes particularly!
Until next time,
