Yes! Comfort Is Back In This Spring!

There has been a definite shift in the weather the last couple of weeks. Like it or not things are warming up and the layers are going to have to come off. At TWH we are not lovers of the heat (give us jackets and scarves any day!) but there is an element of excitement that can’t be denied when Spring starts to let us know that she is coming. A time for change, renewal and perhaps a pre-Summer cocktail. French 75 anyone? So with all of this change, what’s in store for our shoe lovers? Well it seems that comfort is going to be easy this season.

1.If there is one style to sum up Spring 17 it’s the kitten heel. Can you believe this is back!? At TWH we are thrilled about this one because it’s easy to look on trend with all the comfort benefits of a lower heel. Technically a kitten heel is around 3.5cm and is slightly tapered in so that is sits inside the back of the shoe. Traditional kitten heels are fine like a stiletto, but this season there are variations on this to a more chunky heel style, and we’re completely down with it. Hello stability! There were a lot of v-neck kitten block heels at NYFW and this resurfaced style is being labelled ‘the comfortable heel trend all the IT girls are wearing.’ Our pick has to be the Guccis –

2. The Mule is still going strong as an absolute wardrobe must have, and can be combined with the kitten heel or a more chunky stable heel. TWH tip: Be aware that if the upper is fine and there is not much covering the foot, your toes will claw to keep the shoe on and this can cause problems (including foot cramps! No thanks). We love styles which have a nice big strap over the top of the foot like these Marc Fisher Criss Cross slides as bought to us by the epic vivaluxury.com  –

3. There are a lot of choices in the flats department too this season – fancy embellished styles and the more chunky but comfy flatform (like platform without the heel) are all on the table. My podiatrist voice is saying yes yes to the flatform, but my inner style voice is a little less vocal on this one! Although I wouldn’t say no to these rose gold beauties –

4. The gladiator and clog have also resurfaced this season. Must be the era of throwbacks? The gladiator is a great option for stability as the straps go over the ankle reducing the risk of ankle sprains. They also have a lot of cut-outs for minor foot deformities like bunions, making them suitable for most foot types. Hooray! And clogs? Well I can’t bring myself to wear these but if your inner Heidi voice is longing to get out then go forth!

5. And finally – sneakers are still a hit, as is the infamous slide. One, two, three… GIVENCHY. Need I say more?

So ladies, there are endless options for a Well-Heeled woman in comfort this season. I know my feet will be happy for it. We’re adding a bunch of new styles to The Shoe Equation in the next few weeks – so keep an eye out for some new additions to the wardrobe.

Happy shoe shopping!
